I have an idea for fproxy that may make it better suited for
anonymous use. They way I have my system set up is that I have
the Internet Junkbuster running as my proxy, and I have two
block files, one of which blocks localhost:8081, and the other
which blocks everything else. I've got shell scripts and menu
choices to copy the correct one to be the main block file.
Essentially, if I am browsing the web, and I click a freenet
link, it is blocked. If I then "activate" fproxy, by switching
blockfiles, I can access fproxy. In Freesites, if I click a
link to an external site, it is blocked, as are all http
requests (but I guess not ftp or other protocols).
Perhaps fproxy could be rewritten as a simple http proxy that
has two "modes" of operation. One would allow transparent
proxying of web sites. When a request is made for
localhost:[whatever port fproxy is on], it brings a page asking
the user to confirm that he wants to switch modes. Conversely,
when in freenet mode, and a request is made for an external
file, a page is returned asking for confirmation to switch
modes. For example, if a freesite has an img src for an
external file, fproxy would return the html document asking for
confirmation, and the request would not go through.
Thoughts?
