I will tend to agree with Oskar and Tavin in this case.  However, I am
definitely what one would consider a "power user" or "megageek" or
whatever term you want to use.

I *like* having control over what initial nodes I put into my Freenet
config.  (Same thing with things like Napster and Gnutella.  In fact,
the Gnutella clients I've played with under Linux have no facility for
automatic discovery of other nodes, and I like it just like that.)

I think the argument is really over how much hand-holding of
unsophisticated users is required versus how much you want the end-user
to be *aware* of what she is getting into.  If you force the end-user to
input a set of initial nodes, they have some awareness of what they are
doing.  If it happens automagically, they do not.  

So maybe the question can be resolved by answering: Is it good to have
Freenet nodes run by users who don't really know what they're running?
