I have heard some anecdotal evidence that there is a degredation in performance with with 489.
We need some more concrete way to measure "freenet weather" than this - perhaps someone could see fit to writing a script which inserted then requested a few files, and measured the time required (and whether they are successful)? Any volunteers?
