Why does the FEC encoder output to the console? Console output should be 
reserved for emergencies (and IMO heisenbugs don't cound), not successes. 
Example:

Encoding stripe: 0 [131072]
Made 64 131072 byte check blocks in 36368ms.
Encoding stripe: 1 [131072]
Made 64 131072 byte check blocks in 34332ms.
Encoding stripe: 2 [131072]
Made 64 131072 byte check blocks in 39636ms.
Encoding stripe: 3 [131072]

etc.

This was sent either to stdout or stderr. It should be sent to the log at 
Minor or Debug loglevel.
