Good news is that the automatic JRE installation seems to work on XP, but we still need others to test it on other platforms. For some unknown reason the JRE installation kinda freezes at the end, but I have seen that before when installing JREs so I suspect that it is more sun's fault than ours - and hopefully it is something peculiar to my machine. I killed it, and the installation still seemed to proceed ok. Still, it might be a good idea to install the JRE last.
A few UI suggestions: Dialog boxes are still used in a number of places to ask the user questions, this really isn't in-keeping with the normal way that installation wizards get information from the user. Typically, they will use radio buttons, and if they absolutely need to force the user to make a binary decision, they disable the Next button until the user has made their selection. I think that we should use this approach. I think a dialog box is only appropriate in extreme circumstances (such as an installation error), but should be avoided during the normal course of installation.
