How about letting us know what problems you're encountering trying to
build - that's one of the purposes of the mailing list (devl@) after all!

Any suggestions on the infrastructure?

I still think an updated manifest file describing all the available .jars
in snapshots would be a good idea. (If a .jar is in snapshots, then its
name and description is in the manifest.txt - parsing a manifest is way
easier than parsing an http dir listing from within a proprietary install
system...)

Comments on this idea?

Like, three changes or something, right?

/freenet-latest.jar/freenet-unstable-latest.jar/

or whatever.
Let us all know how you get on.
