Hi,
I've been running some of the NIO-based releases (>= 599) without too much trouble for several days non-stop on a Red Hat 9 box with Sun JVM 1.4.1_03-b02, kernel 2.4.20-18.9 and LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 to avoid use of NPTL. It should suffice to set this variable to 2.4.1 AFAIK, but with that setting I ran into a major hangup once. Note that I used to have these hangups in the pre-NIO ages too.
The number and duration of my test runs is too small to be conclusive, but it does suggest that we should encourage RH9 users to give it a go with LD_ASSUME_KERNEL set.
Any other RH9 success or failure stories?
