If "the node are always transient if they have a small datastore" is true,
then it is Fred's doing, not the Config tool

Ah - sorry, my misunderstanding.
The config panel currently assumes you want a permanent node.  If you
change the setting to transient (in freenet.ini) then the config panel
should show this, but it doesn't let you change it yourself.  That's a bit
rubbish, I know, especially now that transient nodes are more useful to
the network than before.  I'll make it read/write again.
