Oh, I see. Maybe. Are you imagining a system where the trail itself is being handed to a node? I was thinking of the trail just being laid out, where any given node knows only the next node in the chain. Either way has its disadvantages, but handing "trail.txt" to any old node is definitely worse. If this is what is proposed, I agree with you.
