Routing is a part of the storage/retrieval process, and as such, storage and 
routing are inseparable.

The point is that a "dumb cache" can be used in many creative ways from a 
higher level. It is counter productive to build such things into the node 
when it is far more sensible to just handle it on the application level of 
whatever your application is supposed to do.
