Sad to have to do that, because it detracts seriously from
user-friendliness.

At even the slightest mention of a 'port', most windows users' eyes
glaze over - they think 'this is too technical', and they give up and
forget about the software.

Like, hello, this is the real world - 80% of PC users don't even know
what a 'port' is, and don't want to know.

Maybe I could take this approach
- if prog can do fcp handshake on port 8481
   - freenet is found
- else
   - browse 'network neighbourhood' to get hostnames of
    other boxen in lan
   - if prog does successful FCP handshake with one of those other boxen
    on the LAN
       - freenet is found
- if freenet is found
   - confirm details with user
- else
  - offer to download/install it

Thoughts?

David
