Au contraire, I think freenet's long term survivability will depend on
amongst other factors its ability to deter freeloaders. However I don't
think the classical mojo nation stuff is the way to go. I have heard
good things about GNUnet's non-scarcity economic model, someday I will
read the papers. Also see what I said in the other mail - it should be
possible to use nodes behind firewalls.
