From my POV, looks like you didn't get Warnocked, but that your original message never made it to the list. The idea itself seems like a fairly reasonable extension to the way estimators currently handle different resolutions, but of course there would be a bunch of details to work out, such as: How do we decide when to spawn new points, and how exactly do we ensure that we don't use too much memory or cycles. But still, it might not be a bad idea. 16 seems like a bit of a low number, to me. Devs, if you know why it really should be plenty for any reasonable situation, feel free to let me know. Are we trying to force specialization to be "simpler"? Maybe even specifically unimodal? I can see problems with that. --hobbs
