the guy who decided that browsers should be error-tolerant.
Firefox users can add the "Html Validator" (powered by Tidy) extension
and get a little green check in their status bar when the HTML/XHTML
validates. View source will show them problem spots when it doesn't
validate. Very handy for web developers.
