Ha ha... I'll answer my own question! Using the recent self-mandatory
upgrades, I installed the rpm I made (1194). It was able to get on the
network without a manual update, but only after...
- completing the setup wizard
- a long time downloading (1/2 hour)
- a warning message NOT stating that it was 'updating', but only that
it was "too old, upgrade now" message (which might indicate to someone
not reading the logs that it is not working).
