IMHO it would be really nice if you set up VMs with common operating systems and test the installer on all of them when doing changes which might break it. - While most of us developers ended up on Linux, we must not forget that Windows is the majority of users! Of course you need to take care of having a proper license - IIRC there are evaluation versions of Microsoft OSes, and they might allow such use. > This will allow a testing channel that can catch problems like > this before they get released as stable In the past, toad told people to use "./update.sh testing" (or update.cmd) to test new builds, so there should be something to start with. But it would be a lot better if it was integrated into the web interface and allowed people to permanently switch their auto-updater to testing versions. That would get us a lot more testers. (Also, I think there somewhere is a bugtracker entry to make Freemail provide functionality for fred to report bugs to the developers. Once WOT/Freemail are shipped by default, we might implement this to make testing nodes automatically report stuff.) > Update translations for Fred, Freemail, FlogHelper, and KeyUtils. > Transifex has problems [1] with including untranslated strings. One thing nice about translating Freenet is that fred's web interface supports showing untranslated strings so people can quickly get something to translate if they want to contribute. It shows those which do not have an entry in the current translating file. If you commit English strings for everything which is not translated, you will break that functionality. Please make sure not to break it. > - Remove unused support classes. However don't misunderstand this: I am very glad to see that you try to remove some cruft, Fred is a huge complex piece of code and it needs to become easier to understand. We *NEED* more people to work on it. > I intended to update the seed node references as well, but forgot to > copy in the file. Please check how to use it. _______________________________________________ Devl mailing list Devl@freenetproject.org https://emu.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/devl
