Currently it was just an example of > bitrot. The problem is that there are changes that are needed to go from fred to testnet, and these require quite a bit of work. Deleting the repository means somebody has to do that work all over again (or this will result in not using testnet). Granted some of it changes, e.g. how the installers are built, and will need changing anyway...
