Because we will explain it to them in one way or another - most likely
by having a numeric % complete indicator - or with our choice of
coloring. That is the challenge of user-interface design. The user will
quickly learn how to interpret the diagram.

And trust me, it would be much easier for a newbie to interpret this 
form of representation than Bombe's design (not to criticize it - it is 
great for experts, but not newbies).

Anyway, I am not dead-set against two progress bars, I just think that 
we shouldn't use two if one will do the job.  In newbie UI design, less 
is more.
