Hmmm... hatred? I don't know if I know of anybody who *hates* the idea of the darknet - that would be some pretty amazing censorship resistance... if it worked. When I first started hearing it described on here, it sounded like a bit of a stretch (where am I going to find three people, in real life, who run Freenet nodes 24x7? How can I even explain Freenet to my non-Freenet aware but technologically literate friends? Where am I going to get some friends?) but if it worked, I was all for it. The problem is, people have been building their small-world connections for, what, two years now? The darknet hasn't made it over to me yet... although it seems to be working for some of you, the rest of us just kind of wish for something that provided 90% anonymity that we could actually use.
