If you are not aware, 7.0.11 was release yesterday. This will most
likely be the last 7.0 branch bug fix release. We will continue to back
port fixes to this branch if they are trivial to back port so users who
continue to run the 7.0 branch will be able to run testing builds.
Stable version 8.0.0 was tagged yesterday and package builds are in
progress. We will officially release 8.0.0 in the next day or so. The
version 8.0 branch has been created and bug fixes for 8.0.1 are already
being merged. I suspect we will have a fairly short development cycle
for 8.0.1.
The development branch is now open for version 9 feature merges. Just a
reminder for members of the lead development team, we are processing new
feature merge requests from developers who are not members of the lead
development team before merging our own new feature branches. The goal
is to keep the number of merge conflicts for new developers to a minimum.
Thank you to everyone who made the 7.0.11 and 8.0.0 releases possible.
It's been a lot of hard work by everyone in the library, documentation,
package, infrastructure, and lead development teams to make this possible.
