Like Marius suggested we could compress modifications like: show the avatar + icon and near the icon have a number displayed, if for example the Administrator did 13 comments, but IMO every change matters if adds a major (minors will be filtered) version to the page and should be displayed separately. The changes that are displayed are related to the current day, so if was so much activity, that will be interesting to be shown. If you think this is too much, we can display just the first 5/10 changes and leave the rest for the expanded view (Have a "..." marker and have the text "15 changes by 3 contributors" shown the total changes made on that page).
