DFC'ers planning to attend this year's DFC meeting: It can be costly to rent a car at Las Vegas Airport to make the long, lonely drive to Death Valley to attend your favorite professional society meeting. In the name of energy conservation and common sense, DFC encourages car-pooling. If you have the opportunity to share a ride with someone or would like to find a ride, please respond to this e-mailĀ (to DFC-L@lists.cc.utexas.edu) with your contact information and potential dates/times. By responding (to DFC-L@lists.cc.utexas.edu) without editing the subject line I've used, all car pool information will end up within one single entry in the archive for easy retrieval. Those who are not interested can easily delete these emails (or even filter them out). We think the extra e-traffic on DFC-L is outweighed by the benefits of helping folks get to the meeting more efficiently and at less cost. Please send e-mail about your interest in car pooling to DFC-L only once. When you find a person to share a ride with, work out details with them directly (rather than via DFC-L). If you think you may have missed some DFC-L traffic, remember that all of it is archived online. See "DFC-L archive" link from the home page (http://desertfishes.org). Thanks and cheers to the remoteness of Death Valley! Seeya there!! Phil Edwin P. (Phil) Pister Executive Secretary, Desert Fishes Council P.O.
