As was pointed out to me last week, the fact that HPs dhcp is working
does not mean that _this_ problem is not also caused by HP not doing
things properly.[1]  Ken Key thought that HP may be using DLPI as their
network programming interface.   ISC dhcp is using sockets as the
default network API (on this platform).

[1] where properly is defined (in this case) as "doing what I want it
to do".[2]
[2] because I don't have enough history in network programming to be
able to claim that the tcpip stack _should_ leave those packets alone.
