This is like saying "shot my dog just in case it was barking." NEVER
nuke your lease file. Treat it like a dear friend whose presence
preserves you from imminent loss of sanity.

It's possible that somebody may have set up a bogus DHCP server on
your network. You might try running ``tcpdump -vv -e -s 1500 udp
src port 67'' and see if you see packets coming from systems other
than the one on which you're running your DHCP server.
If that doesn't turn anything up, please send us the output of your
DHCP server when you stop it and then restart it with the -d flag.
