You're correct. I've been writing scripts against a different dhcp
server. Sorry Ted - I pleaded, kicked, and screamed but I have to use
Cisco's product (oh, but read on, I have an ISC sucess story you'll
like.) For my logical groupings, I use a format similar to ISC except
that I allow my groups to be named because I use the name as a pointer
to a data structure containing all the group data. Anyway, that's where
I got the idea that a group could be named.
It would be nice though if you could name a group because it would make
searching long files by group a lot easier.
So we were having problems with Cisco's DHCP server where we would see
requests but none were answered. I had ISC compiled, installed,
configured, running, and answering leases in five minutes flat! It was
very easy to tell from that point that the problem lied within the Cisco
configuration. Good job Ted (and all the other ISC developers and
contributors) for a fine product. I use it at home with excellent
performance.
Cheers,
Matthew
