Please forgive me if this is a FAQ, but has anyone automated the
construction of dhcpd.conf from external data?
On our campus, we do not allow dynamic allocation and therefore statically
assign all our departmental addresses based on MAC.
I'd like to build the dhcpd.conf from data in a mysql database (ideally)
or a file (less ideal) based on defined group membership, with the option
to over-ride global options for individual hosts if needed (the database
would, of course, contain all the necessary info for each host).
I'm envisioning a perl-script to do this, but I don't want to re-invent
the wheel if someone has already worked on this. (If someone has, I would
appreciated being pointed in the right direction).
If no one has yet constructed such a beast, is there interest in my
eventual solution? Implementing it shouldn't be too hard...
Cheers,
Stephen.
