First, Please let me apologize for sounding like such a jerk. I
unfortunately came off sounding like a completely ungrateful moron, and that
was definitely not my intention ( the ungrateful part, I don't think I can do
much about the moron part :). I do greatly appreciate the work you've done
in order to provide these rpms, since they do alleviate us all from having to
waste time compiling and installing the software ourselves.
My partner and I have been trying with much pain and agravation to get some
RH systems set up lately, and rpm has been the biggest thorn in our side. One
of the biggest flaws with rpm IMO, is that it doesn't enforce flexibility. As
a result, (and RH seems to lead by example here) we end up with everything
under the sun being installed into /usr/bin or /usr/sbin. On a standalone
machine this fine, and I don't really mind if that's a default. But, in a
networked/NFS enviroment, I don't want to have to upgrade 200 machines. Just
like autoconf allows one to provide a --prefix in order to relocate the
package from it's default install location, rpm should allow this too.
They have made provisions for it, unfortunately, no one really uses it,
not even RH themselves.

I personally would greatly appreciate that. I value the efforts of those who
produce free software very much. I appreciate those who provide infinitely
configurable and flexible free software even more.
I don't know who else will appreciate the capability of being able to relocate
the packages, but I will guarantee that there are at least 2 of us here who
will, and greatly so.
Thank you, and again, I apologize for sounding like a jerk earlier, it was
definitely not my intent.
