This sounds exactly like it.  I tried to run dia in English, which I had
originally built the diagrams in, and didn't have the problem.  Running it
in Danish, which I use at home, resulted in the errors.

I'll see if I can figure out the XML (it looks quite well organized and
straight-forward) and tr/,/./g (or whatever appears to be the problem) 
where appropriate. If I'm still having problems, I'll send along a file -
thanks so much for your offer to take a look at them. 

Thanks for your kind response.  I'm glad it seems to be a fairly
straightforward fix.
