 Dear Dia users/developers,

FYI: Workarounds for problems on Mandrake Linux
========================================

On another matter, I have experienced problems with Dia, running on Mandrake Linux
ver 7.2, but have found workarounds.

Problem: Dia crashes a lot.

Workaround : uninstall rpm version of Dia, then install version of Dia compiled from the source.

Problem: Dia is not able to reload previously saved files.

Workaround : switch off, "Save as compressed" option.

I spoke too soon, my apologies.  I am usually unable to reload saved dia files. This problem
occurs  regardless of whether or not the files are compressed.

For example, Dia cannot reread the attached Dia file, or for that matter,
any of those, which I previously sent to you.  I will post a message to the dia-users
list,  I guess, but can you tell me if you can look at the attached uncompressed
Dia file?  If so, there is some hope that I can retrieve my work, at a later point.

I guess, this may have something to do with the Linux distribution I am using.
(or alternatively, I need to mess arround with the libraries I am using.)  In case,
it may be of any use to anyone, various files created during my build of Dia,
(config.log, Makefile etc) are attached in a *.tgz file

regards,

James
