Chlorinated organic compounds can be degraded in anoxic environments through the so called reductive dechlorination. I was working with Dehalococcoides degrading chlorinated and brominated ethens (PCE, TCE etc.) in aquifers. However biogas fermentors are not necessarily the best environments for them, neither such micropollutants are good for the methanogens, so I wouldn't combine detoxification and methane production.

Here a digestion question :

In an article by Barbara Klingler of the German Biogas Association, it is mentioned that :

"Organic compounds can be reduced through the anaerobic treatment processe."

Then she listed a certain amount of organic compounds such as : TRichlormethane, dichloromethane and tetrachlormethane and others.

I would like to know more about that.

Thank you in advance,

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE IT IS OFF TOPIC. That was my whole point. Taking time here or in a presentation (many of which I have seen) at a trade conference to talk about the political stuff, is a waste of time.
