For those of you who speak German, there's now a new German website that will host free podcasts (audio blogs). I'd be interested to see how it works for German DDN members;if it's useful we could put together a
quick German-language podcasting tutorial, assuming the website doesn't do that already. See below for more information. -ac
(...) Hi Andy
Couldn't find a tutorial on podcasting there, but they seem to take the word in a fairly wide sense. From their FAQ:
"Are there restrictions to what may be uploaded?
Yes! We offer a very convenient hosting especially for Podcasters, and we are not happy when it is misused. As it is difficult to precisely define what is and what isn't a Podcast, the following rule obtains: All kinds of audio and video files are authorized, but nothing else (in special cases, we are glad to make exceptions, please contact us). We carry out a random monitoring and in case of a violation of this rule, an immediate closing of the account must be expected"
So it's not really a blog, more a storage place, if you can't have an exploratory text, maybe? I opened a free account to see if a text intro is or isn't possible.
One thing re Michael's
>At the beginning of each month, the space you booked will be > refreshed - ready to be filled with new Podcasts.
there's a bit after that he skipped (don't we all in translations):
"- ohne dass ihre alten Dateien gelscht werden!" i.e.+ - "but your old files won't get deleted!"
cheers
Claude
PS On the Net-Gold mailing-list, George Lessard posted about RapidShare http://rapidshare.de/en/main.html (in English too). There, you don't get an account, you can upload files as big as 20Mb, get a URL for the download page (can even get it e-mailed to you, with another URL for deleting the file) Of course, each file ends up at a different URL, but then, you might blog the various URLs manually (stop cringing, you techies, LOL). Bear in mind that the files will get deleted after 30 days if no one downloaded them.
Hey, what has happened in Germany that they start offering these huge storage capacities?
