Just to be clear, the email content regarding cell phones is apparently a hoax, but the donotcall.gov website is _not_ a hoax. This website is the official website for the Federal Trade Commission for the public to add their numbers to the do not call list.

For example, go to www.ftc.gov, the home of the FTC, and you'll see a large banner regarding the do not call list. Clicking the banner takes you to the donotcall.gov website.
