Taran Rampersad By the end of next week, I'm hoping to have all the present
INTERNETenabled devices running off of solar energy. The server I'm
buildingwill need some measurements taken... the AMD 64 bit processor pulls
alot of amps at startup. Probably a capacitor boost, but I have to lookat it.
Could anyone help me in making suggestions of what communications devises are
needed for a Disaster Preparedness Communication Kit? We've come along way from
only needing a radio and battery. What did the end user use for the Katrina
refugees? Someone said something about text messaging, and another about
reverse 911? And how about hand held battery recharger's, any ideas? We're
looking for cost effective solutions to keeping in touch. We know that even
when electricity came available that there were not enough people to answer
phones at FEMA, and most relocating was done on the Internet. So what laptops
could run the longest, and does the solar battery recharger work without
electricity? And is this not a good point to work with Wi FI IS P's to opening
up their wireless during a disaster? Ronda EvansRECA Foundation
