Quite apart from any other reason, you get loads of people coming to Brighton for the language schools, no? But the sad thing is almost all the talented young Italians I know are considering when and how they should move somewhere else.
As for the mafia -- they get everywhere. ;-) You'd be amazed how many legit businesses in the UK are actually mafia investments.
