My take on all this is people spend 5 minutes thinking about it and are confident they know it all.
A few years back some hacker claimed they'd gotten into the Boeing flight control computers via the passenger entertainment system. I don't know the disposition of this case, but if true, such coupling of systems is a gigantic no-no. Some engineers would have some serious 'splainin to do.
