The problem is not the spooling per se, Linux, Windows and Mac OS X are all happy to talk to JetDirect, the problem is that the printer only has 7MB of memory and no disc, and operating systems seem now to think that printers have gigbytes of memory and make no allowances. The worst of it is though that the LJ 4000 has quite an old version of PostScript compared to that in use today and all the application and/or drivers that render to PostScript are not willing (or able) to code generate for such an old PostScript interpreter. Together this leads to a huge number of stack fails on print jobs. -- Russel. ============================================================================= Dr Russel Winder t: +44 20 7585 2200 voip: sip:[email protected] 41 Buckmaster Road m: +44 7770 465 077 xmpp: [email protected] London SW11 1EN, UK w: www.russel.org.uk skype: russel_winder
