I couldn't disagree with that more, especially if you're comparing to something like linux. The linux console is a big pain. dmd works pretty well on Windows (building 32 bit apps, no 64). The biggest problem is good old optlink, while the best of the bunch in the 90's, doesn't work so well with all the newer stuff people want to use today. Can't really blame Windows for that, though.
