I heard it live in '69 and have heard it a hundred times since. There is literally no space or gap between "for" and "man" which would have been the missing "a". He simply never spoke the "a". Armstrong was and is a great pilot and astronaut, but he flubbed this one. I'm convinced his forty-year reclusiveness is a direct result of blowing what should have been one of the greatest quotes in the history of the human race. I suspect he would give anything - literally - to be able to go back and do it again, but it can not be undone. Even the greatest among us are still human. Bill, W6WRT Need a Digital mode QSO?
