I have no idea how things were in Europe. But from here on the West Coast of the USA, all of the 40 and 20M PSK freqs, and most of the CW freqs as well, were completely overrun by contesters. It was nearly impossible to operate digital other than in the contest. Nor did hardly anyone do so. The band plan went out the window. RTTY stations were even up around 14076.5-079.5. de Roger W6VZV
