Ian,

Download the free version of Multipsk , in the help file you will see simple
description of all the modes. The VERY common modes are:

PSK31
RTTY
PACTOR
PACKET
SSTV

One that are moderately active are :

MFSK16
Hell
Olivia
PSK63
ALE
Domino EX
PAX2
Digital Voice (DRM)

The not-so-often-heard modes are

MT63
CHIP64
PSK125
THROB

Your Icom 746 Pro can , I believe, already copy RTTY and PSK31. To receive
these modes you do not need an interface, just a cable taking the audio out
from your Icom to the LINE in of your PC...then use software to decode
them. Interfaces can be built for a few dollars from simple plans or you
can buy them ranging from the US$50 range all the way up to US$300. Names
of "popular" ones are Microham, Rigblaster, Rig Expert, and more..
