I have never actually used a TNC with the digital modes (usually just use the soundcard) other than old fashioned RTTY and AMTOR. I suggest you start with Winwarbler because I have seen some referenced to use of this software with old fashioned TNCs. Winwarbler provides RTTY and PSK31 and is well supported. Andy K3UK

I have the 13-pin and 5-pin DINs wired up and connected to my Kenwood 850S. The RS232 connected--now what software should I install for my first HF data mode QSO? What is the best and easiest software to get started enjoying digital modes with the MFJ 1278? I know it's not one of the easiest TNCs to use, but I want to use it, since I paid for the darn thing.
