If you have a windows XP machine with 512 MB RAM you may want to try the windows version of the pskmail client. The puppy Linux image runs inside windows and is just 256 MB, so it runs entirely in RAM.
As it uses QEMU not every soundcard is supported, only the VESA server works. But you don't have to leave windows for it :) Use 1024x768 resolution.
