This link will point to F6CTE's (MultiPSK) web site. The ZIP file a
document titled, "RS_ID-_English.DOC", that explains in detail what Reed
Solomon Identifier(RSID) feature is.

In a nutshell, it is protocol used to identify what digital mode a
particular station will be transmitting. This feature takes the
guesswork out of determining either by sight or sound what digital a
station will be using. A receiving station configured to act upon the
RSID protocol, will automatically switch mode the mode that will be used
by the transmitting station.
