*Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
- Gather business requirements and apply them into logical and physical
database models
- Create detailed database design specifications
- Develop stored procedures, triggers, scripts to provide the database
support for multiple application development teams
- Perform database tuning and performance optimization
- Install, maintain/support, tune Sybase ASE 15 instances
- Effectively interact with various teams within the firm: Linux admins,
TradeDesk support, Application developers, Traders, Clearing team, etc.
- Analize database performance and efficiency and recommend changes to
optimize performance
- Plan future database capacity requirements
- Monitors usage and performance of databases and identifies/resolves
problems or potential problems Plans, develops, tests and executes: DB
backup & recovery, data changes, schema changes, DB housekeeping, scripts,
user account & access, replication, software upgrades, system recovery
- Weekend and off hours on call schedule
*Candidate Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
*
§ Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
§ 5yrs of writing SQL skills on a Sybase environment
§ 5 yrs. Sybase administration skills on Linux/Unix
§ Sybase ASE 15 experience, Sybase Replication
§ Linux/Unix, Power Designer, scripting (shell, Perl, etc)
§ Financial experience a plus
§ Demonstrate knowledge of technical and data architecture concepts
and their implementation
§ VLDB experience a plus
§ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, positive
personality to effectively conduct team work
§ Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management and
project teams (verbally and in writing)
§ Manage multiple deliverables in a highly fast paced environment
*EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:*
§ BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
