Network Engineer Skills: Routing of traffic, Maintaining network availability etc Location: NYC Duration: 6 Months + Description: One of our Direct Clients is looking for Enterprise Network Engineer. The candidate will configure and monitor the routing of traffic and is responsible for maintaining network availability. She/he will ensure compliance with change control processes and adhere to standards and documentation for the production & enterprise infrastructure.
Responsibilities: * knowledgeable/hands on of Layer 1-7 switching, TCP/IP, OSPF, HSRP, and load balancing (foundry switches, netscreen firewalls, citrix/netscaler load balancers) * knowledgeable of open source tools (Rancid, ntop, etc) * Configure, support, and maintain facilities (metro Ethernet, ISP handoffs, etc), Networking equipment (routers, switches, load balancers, and other communications devices) * Monitor the performance, routing and flow of traffic throughout the network. * Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves network problems. * Creates and maintains comprehensive network documentation * Supports the Implementation of test plans, migration plans, and delivery plans. * Responsible for ongoing support/troubleshooting of configuration and layout of Production & Enterprise infrastructure , in a 24x7 environment * Support Business Continuity, High Availability, Participate in Root Cause Analysis reviews when applicable. * Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels of the organization * Ability to work effectively in a fast paced changing environment multi-tasking, prioritization, and ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner. * Experience handling complex support desk escalations; monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex network environments. Qualifications Job Requirements and Qualifications: * Bachelors degree in a related engineering or technology discipline, with 5-7 years experience * Strong technical background and in-depth knowledge of delivering complex solutions using industry best practices and methods. * Demonstrated experience with routing and switching VLANs, tunneling, spanning tree, trunking, and MPLS. * Experience with network security platforms and technologies.
