Only NVidia can help you with that one then.

You either use fbdev or not. You can't use VGA for one virtual console and
fb for another.

Yes with fbset. It's the default behavior of fbset to change the settings
for only one virtual console.

All your questions are related to fbdev and not DirectFB. Are you actually
trying to do something with DirectFB?
