Did you start modifying the driver, or are you just trying to use it?

Yeah, it works fine for me -- but I don't use the TV output at all. The only
thing I noticed so far is that there's no wait-for-vsync support, so the
directfb examples run much too fast and/or flickery.

I didn't do this..

A modprobe for viafb does the trick for me. The fbcons are not used if I look
at my module list.

modprobe viafb mode=1024x768 bpp=16

My TV is fine :)

mode "1024x768-63"
    # D: 64.998 MHz, H: 49.541 kHz, V: 62.552 Hz
    geometry 1024 768 1024 768 16
    timings 15385 128 32 16 4 128 4
    rgba 5/11,6/5,5/0,0/0
endmode

Frame buffer device information:
    Name : Via
    Address : 0xd8000000
    Size : 33554432
    Type : PACKED PIXELS
    Visual : TRUECOLOR
    XPanStep : 0
    YPanStep : 1
    YWrapStep : 0
    LineLength : 2048
    Accelerator : No

But perhaps the normal console works fine for you too?

Cheers!

     Rob
