Hello,

I have a usermode lib that *should* be able to provide the necessary
(accelerated) services to the system and gfxdriver.
i.e. I want to create a new system module (abstracted framebuffer/backend)
*and* provide a new complementary gfxdriver (operations onto the
framebuffer).

App -- directfb -- system [ mylib ]
      |
      +---------- gfxdrivers [ mylib ]

I note with interest this from the website:

"The Worldwide Embedded Linux Conference of the CE Linux Forum will be held
April 11 and 12 in San Jose, California!
Denis Oliver Kropp will be there to give a presentation on DirectFB again.
This time the integration into existing software stacks will be the key
aspect. Writing non-framebuffer device based system modules (backends),
while still having hardware accelerated drivers, as well as some cool
demos, will convince engineers and project managers of the power,
versatility and feasibility of DirectFB, the universal graphics sub system
for the embedded world. "

Which appears to describe exactly what I'm trying to acheive -
unfortunately, I've missed the opportunity to attend this conference - will
notes/slides be available?

My task is to establish - quickly - whether what I want is acheivable and
to establish complexity/risk - If I can get a demo working, albeit
rudimentary, that would be great.

Q. If I was to take one of the existing systems to use as the basis for my
new system module - which one should I use?
Q. Likewise, which of the existing drivers is most suitable for use as the
basis for my new driver module?
Q. What I really want to know is - what is the *minimum* I need to do to
achieve the above?
Q. Is there any available documentation/resource that would assist me in
this process?

Any pointers/advice gratefully received.

TIA,
Jason.
