This is probably not the best forum for questions on the specifics of the STLinux DirectFB port, almost nobody will know what you are talking about :-) You would be better asking such hardware specific questions using STLinux bugzilla.
However, in answer to your question, the only DirectFB layer supported by the STLinux port is the primary layer on the framebuffer. The framebuffer is on a specific hardware plane, although this can be changed in the framebuffer driver. If you have more questions on the specifics then please feel free to post something in the STLinux bugzilla.
