Actually it cross compiles fine here (GTK+-2.x) in embtoolkit!
I tried directfb backend which cross compiled successfully,
but encountered many issues at run time (sorry for not reporting thoses
issues but directfb.org used to be offline so long), while X backend
worked like a charm.
